The AICPA, the world's largest accounting body, administers the CPA Exams. Upon completing all four exams, aspirants are granted membership in the AICPA. However, the issuance of a CPA license is overseen by the 55 state boards of accountancy in the US through NASBA. Each state board has distinct eligibility criteria that candidates must meet to qualify for the US CPA exams.
